Paulette showed me the power of connectedness

It is with great honor and pleasure to share with you about a woman who has been a mentor to many young minority women including myself in the city of Pomona. She is a 40 year resident of this fair city of Pomona. Her passion to volunteer has helped and served many populations like youth, woman’s clubs and those in need that participate in Sowing Seeds For Life (the 2nd largest food bank in Los Angeles County) located in Pomona.

Paulette not only volunteers her time physically but invests her knowledge and expertise by providing health education to adults and children while they are standing in line for food. Ms. Young also has served as an example of leadership, community involvement and of being a conduit for other young minority woman by sharing her wisdom and resources with organizations like Diamond Love Foundation, NAACP, Pomona Purpose Church and Fathers and Families Coalition of America. She is kind and generous to share her legacy of mentorship and entrepreneurship through a small company called Health Care Consultants which focuses on traveling across Los Angeles County to provide health education courses.

Paulette has a passion to not only serve others but to save the lives of young people through educating them about the importance of being tested for HIV before getting involved with a person. For the last 30 years with great success, Paulette has made a concerted effort to educate people throughout Pomona on the subject of HIV. As a matter of fact she coined the slogan: “2 Test Is Better Than One Get Tested HIV”. She contributed 4 years as Pomona Branch NAACP Health Committee Chairperson which spearheaded the passing of the HIV Resolution.
