George showed me the power of community

When I came to Pomona almost 30 years ago I lived in an artist loft on 2nd Street. George owned a gallery on Main St. Every time I would see George he would invite me to a Friday evening potluck at his gallery (we called it “Cafe George” ‘) When I finally took him up on the invitation it changed my life. I met people who loved art and the Pomona community and I was finally able to understand what drew me here. To this day George continues to bring us together no matter how many times he says he is retiring. He continues to be a mentor and an inspiration. The Pomona Art Colony is not just where I live, these people are my family. Were it not for George I would not have made these connections. He works day and night to make Pomona a place we can all be proud of. He is my Hero.
