Brenda showed me the power of community

When I think of Pomona, I think of Brenda. From the moment I met Brenda, I knew they were a beautiful, powerful soul. In the years that I have known them, I have seen their growth, resilience, and the love and care they have for Pomona, their home. They have invested and improved, and continue to invest and improve Pomona through their active participation, advocacy, and willingness to go the extra mile for their people. Brenda notices all things big and small in their community, from the coffee shops and the book stores to the flowers and mushrooms peeking through the sidewalks. The love they have for their family, for their siblings, for their friends, for their community, is endless.

Brenda has shown me the power that communities have and all the possibilities and futures they can create when they join together as one. Brenda has changed and influenced my perspective on my own communities and the world around me. I can only imagine loving my city as much as they love theirs. To know such a special soul who sees the power and love in community is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
